In case you missed it… check out the 2024-26 IFSCC Strategic Plan, available at https://illinoiscomposts.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/2024-2026-IFSCC-Strategic-Plan.pdf
IFSCC members met both in person and virtually in November 2023 to review progress and to discuss goals to retain or add to coalition efforts. Feedback received during that meeting was used to revise the strategic plan, which was facilitated by Jen Nelson, Director at Seven Generations Ahead, and approved by the Board of Directors at the May 2024 meeting.
The IFSCC strategic plan is updated bi-annually. It is always evolving to guide the board and committees in pursuit of the IFSCC mission of advancing diversion and composting of all organics in Illinois through advocacy, program implementation, market and business development, policy, and outreach. Goals and objectives for the coming year are grouped into categories of Advocacy, Diversion, Market Development, and Engagement, with responsible committees indicated.
A Vision Statement was added to the IFSCC Mission this year: All Illinoisans see organic waste as the valuable resource it is, and are urgently taking action to rescue edible food, divert food scraps to avoid emissions, and utilize the nutrients to ensure soil viability.
