IFSCC Member Organics Processors

Find an IFSCC Member Organics Processor near you or purchase finished compost.

ORGANICS: Commercial composting of organics is done through a processing facility that is permitted to handle organic waste and has the capacity to accept what is generated. Some community compost processors can even bring equipment to process organics onsite. The location of a processor and the location of where the organic waste is generated is a very important factor in determining the feasibility of every composting program.

The COMPOSTING FACILITIES OF ILLINOIS MAP below shows IFSCC Member Organics Processors. Each processor is different and may or may not accept food scrap organics. Many compost processors mainly accept only landscape waste, and various others are limited in what they can or will accept. The state of Illinois permitting limits many organics processors to only accept food scrap organics that constitute no more than 10% of the total volume handled at their facility. Public Act 96-0418 (effective 1/1/2010) made it possible to add food scrap to a yard waste composting operation in Illinois and the industry is growing and expanding. Please work directly with each IFSCC Member Organics Processor to learn more.
